July/August 2008

Blake loved to be locked in the cage with Bear. He would put blankets over the top so that it was like a cool fort. It was great for me because I could get so much done while he played in there. I would ask him if he wanted me to let him out and he would always say no. One day, while he was playing in the cage with the dog, the doorbell rang. I saw out the window it was FedEx, so I figured I could quickly sign for the package without getting Blake out of the cage. Of course as soon as I open the door, the dog starts barking.
Blake grabbed stuck his fingers through the holes in the cage and stared yelling,
"Help! Let me OUT! HELP!"
My face went bright red and I ran over quickly to let him out. I had to explain to the delivery man that he had asked to be put in there. The guy just laughed and walked away. I was sure CPS would be knocking on my door any day.
Cool new glasses.
ALWAYS one blue shoe, one orange...his two favorite colors. That was the only way he would wear them so I just went with it. People would actually ask me sometimes if I knew he had two different shoes on.

Taking lessons from Mommy, I think

Once while visiting a friend of mine, Blake and the other kids played in the toy room. I kept checking on them and they seemed to be fine. Then it got really quiet. I was shocked to see the room and all three kids covered in blue paint. Why she kept paint in a low drawer in her playroom, I'll never know, but Blake discovered it. He was also very proud that he was the one that opened it! Needless to say, I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning her room and shampooing her carpets. I learned to never trust when someone says their playroom is kid-proof...it may not be Blake-proof.
