In my efforts to find my "Son-shine" card, I stumbled upon this...

Just after my Dad died, my sister sent me a card. I was excited to see her handwriting and I quickly ripped into the envelope. What I saw hit me like a ton of bricks....

Kim found the card from my dad to me while she was going through some of his stuff. It was so wonderful (and sad) to see a letter he'd written to me that I didn't remember. He must have been away on business when I was very small and sent it to me. I can picture him finding it in the store and just having to buy it. I love how it is written to such a small child. Just how I would talk to Clayton. JB was Jelly Bean the cat. I can hear myself giving Clayton the same advice about feisty Hobie. I love seeing my name in his handwriting....it makes him feel close. It really is the cutest, sweetest card ever! I don't know why I wanted to put it on the blog. I guess just because putting it out there, into space, makes it feel like somehow he'll hear/feel me thinking about him. Maybe it's because I feel a little lonely tonight.
Ether way, I feel happy because I know he loved/loves me and that makes me feel special.
I love you, Dad.
