Clayton loves horses, but is a little afraid of life-like stuffed horses. Lindsey got a big stuffed horse for Christmas and Clayton backed himself in a corner to try to get away from it, saying, "Neigh, neigh," in a terrified tone. When he first discovered this Eeyore, he brought it to me saying, "No, neigh, neigh, No!" I asked if he wanted me to put it out in the garage and he nodded his classic little nod. Poor Eeyore, all alone in the garage, being mistaken for a horse. Then, he was obsessed with it out there and kept wanting me to bring it in and out. Once he realized that Eeyore was friend, not foe, he's been carrying him around ever since. He asks for him at night, he snuggles him after naps, he had to bring him to soccer practice and show all the parents his "Neigh, neigh."
This funny little boy has been fighting a bad cold the last week. He had a fever for two days and hasn't felt very well. At night I wanted him to be warm enough and so I would sneak in and put another blanket on him. He always woke up and would say, "No!" push the extra blanket off and then say, "meow?" I'd hand him his favorite kitten and he'd go back to sleep.
The first day of his cold, he woke up from his nap and he was clearly sick. I said to him, "Oh, you sound a little hoarse, honey," and he replied in the scratchiest little voice imagineable, "Neigh, neigh." It was so adorable.
Blake now lines up all the horse figurines for Clayton to play with which is really sweet. He says, "Clayton, do you want your neigh, neigh?" and Clayton always nods. Blake has also learned, however that he gets quite the reaction from his brother just by taking away his favorite things; his blanket, binkie, cat, or now his Neigh, neigh. Oh well, I guess that is part of being brothers:)
